The Fontaine Research Park is a masterplanned, 54-acre research park with nearly 500,000 square feet of development. With the recent completion of the University's 85,000 square foot Snyder Translational Research Building, the Park is fully built-out under the current zoning.
The Park is home to the following groups:
- Health Services Foundation,
- University of Virginia Office of Development,
- a 50-bed Rehabilitation Hospital,
- Musculoskeletal Medical Office Building,
- CFA Institute,
- University of Virginia Investment Management Company, and
- University of Virginia College of Arts and Sciences Development Office
Additionally, the Park is home to the Aurbach Medical Research Building where premier researchers in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism share a common facility. By consolidating the core of the diabetes program under one roof, laboratory and clinical facilities exist side by side. The world-class diabetes team share core laboratory facilities, recruit outstanding new faculty and provide better patient care.
The Clinical Office Building is dedicated to Medical Center patient care. The building houses the Imaging Center, which provides MRI, CT and Dexascan services, the Endocrinology Clinic, the Department of Otolaryngology, a Neurology Clinic and a Digestive Health Center. This building is the largest building in the Commonwealth using a geothermal cooling and heating system.
Fontaine Research Park is located adjacent to the grounds of the University of Virginia, less than two miles from the central Charlottesville business district. The Park has direct access to U.S. Route 29, the major north-south artery through Charlottesville, and is less than a mile from Interstate 64.
