  Founded in 1819 by Thomas Jefferson, the University of Virginia isconsistently ranked by U.S. News & World Report as #2 of the nation’s top public universities. With 13,636 undergraduates, 6,554 graduate and first professional students, 644 on-grounds continuing education students, and 2,140 faculty members, this distinguished institution has ten degree-granting schools, including the Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the School of Law, and the School of Medicine.
