Overall Building Amenities
Adjacent parking in the recently completed 11th Street Parking Garage and a minor retail component, fronting on West Main Street, to support the building occupants.
Designed for Children and Their Families
The Bridge Model of care concept, in essence, provides a bridge of care between the child's stay at University Hospital Floors 7 and 8, and the child's return to his/her community.
Caregivers go to the children rather than children and their families having to go to five different geographic areas.
The Battle Building is Phase 3 of a three-phase project under development since 2005.
Phase 1 was the 11th Street Garage (completed in 2008).
Phase 2 was the pedestrian connector linking the 11th Street Garage and the East Garage across the railroad tracks (completed in 2009). The enabling phases of the project were completed during the last 30 months. Utility undergrounding and improvements to West Main Street and Jefferson Park Avenue
Off-Site utility work on 11th Street
Removal of the pedestrian bridge between the Blake Center and 1222 Jefferson Park Avenue
The naming of the Battle Building honors Barry and the late Bill Battle, who have been UVa Children's Hospital advocates for over 30 years.
