Rebecca Ivins Named Research Parks Director

Ivins brings extensive experience in economic development, civic engagement, and strategic collaboration to the role

The University of Virginia Foundation has named Rebecca Ivins as its new research parks director, effective July 1, 2025. In this role, Ivins will lead the strategic direction and growth of the Foundation's research parks by identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and driving successful real estate projects that align with the University's long-term mission and growth objectives.

"Rebecca's leadership comes at a pivotal moment for the Foundation as we expand our efforts to attract innovative companies to North Fork, grow career-ladder job opportunities, and deepen partnerships between the University, industry, and community," said Deborah van Eersel, incoming CEO of the UVA Foundation. "We're excited about the future of the research parks under Rebecca's leadership and thrilled to welcome her to the UVA Foundation family."

Ivins brings extensive private sector experience, having most recently served as client solutions manager for the Hourigan Group in Western Virginia. Throughout her career, she has held business development and construction management roles at leading firms, including Hourigan, Gilbane, and Jones Lang LaSalle, consistently focusing on building partnerships and strengthening communities.

A dedicated civic leader, Ivins has served on multiple boards throughout the region, including in key roles with the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Central Virginia Partnership for Economic Development. She currently chairs the Defense Affairs Committee and serves on the newly established Innovation Corridor Advisory Board. She is known throughout the region—and across Virginia—for her commitment to workforce development, infrastructure strategy, and defense affairs.

"I am honored to join a premier university with a strong legacy of innovation. This role reflects my passion for driving economic growth, fostering collaboration, and building ecosystems where research and industry thrive," said Ms. Ivins. "I'm excited to work with University leaders, regional business partners, and the broader community to advance the park's role as a catalyst for talent, innovation, and transformative growth across our region and beyond."

Ivins attended the University of Akron and earned a mini-MBA from the University of Richmond. She is a golf enthusiast and has enjoyed watching her four children grow into adults.
